Srihatta Economic Zone

Key Site Facts:

Shreehatta Economic Zone is located on 352 acres of land in Sherpur Sadar upazila, east which Sylhet, west of Habiganj, Sunamganj on the north and Moulvibazar district on the south. Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina laid the foundation stone of Shreehatta Economic Zone’s development work on February 2016. Shreehatta Economic Zone will play an important role in decentralization of industries and employment of about 44,000 people of Sylhet division. Jalalabad Gas Distribution Company Limited has started the construction of a pipeline for providing gas connections to the Shreehatta Economic Zone and  BREB has started the construction of a 33/11 KVA power sub station for ensure quality electricity. Land development, electricity supply lines and lake development work started by BEZA. In March 2017, investment proposals were invited to invest in Srihatta Economic Zone and in the meantime, 06 entities were allotted 231 acres of land. There are proposals worth investment of about 1.4 billion US dollars from these 06 companies. Investors will start setting up industries from December 2018.

Location:

Sherpur within Maulovibazar Sadar Upazila of Moulovibazar District

Connectivity:

  • Road Connectivity: Located along the Dhaka-Sylhet highway, only 40 km away from Sylhet city and 208 km from Dhaka.
  • Rail Connectivity: Lies beside the Dhaka – Sylhet Rail link, a busiest rail track for passenger and freight transport. Shreemongol railway junction is only 35 km from the zone.
  • Air Connectivity: Osmani International Airport is only 55 km and Shahajalal International Airport 208 km from the zone.
  • Port Connectivity: Distance of Tamabil Land Port fromthe zone is only 100 km.
  • River : Direct access to Kushiara River.

  • Existing Capacity: 20 MW to be provided by Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board
  • A 33 KV dedicated line will be drawn from existing 132 KV Grid Substation located nearby

  • 1 km away from the Moulovibazar Telephone Exchange
  • Connected by FOC to the Moulovibazar main Exchange

 Water Supply:

  • Surface water is available within 1 km from the zone
  • 6 MLD water line will be installed for piping water from Kusiara river
